Environmental Law Librarian

Environmental Law Librarian Christine Ryan serves as part of a strong Public Services staff, providing reference, formal instructional services, and expertise in environmental resources. She works with students, Environmental Law Center faculty and staff to meet their information needs and enhance their research skills. She also selects all new environmental book and Internet resources for the Library.

Environmental Law Collection

The Environmental Collection concentrates materials on the many subjects that relate to environmental decision making. As an evolving discipline, environmental law has focused on different areas such as planning and zoning, solid waste, risk assessment, hazardous wastes, toxics, cost-benefit analysis, biodiversity, sustainability, environmental justice, environmental economics and energy law and policy. The library responds to the evolution of environmental law by purchasing materials in new areas to support the curriculum and experiential programs of the law school. The Collection also includes online materials available by subscription only and linked to from the VLS library web pages.

Environmental Databases

The Library subscribes to a number of online databases that focus on environmental law and support the study of and research in environmental law. They are freely available for use by the VLS community. VLS students and faculty may access these materials from anywhere within the law school; for off-campus access, visit the Off-Campus Access page.
